GENERAL ROUTE INFORMATION
The Blue River Century offers a route for all intermediate and advanced riders. You can choose your route the day of the ride, at the final aid station.
The Blue River Century follows the same route until the last aid station, at which point you can select from three different finish routes which vary in difficulty, so read the route descriptions below to determine the finish that fits your skill level.
VERY IMPORTANT In case of adverse weather during the ride, EMERGENCY SHELTERS will be available in the following locations:
- Inside Shops/Patio area of Silverthorne Outlet Mall.
- The "MAC" at Copper Mountain Resort (Main Village area). (Near Fremont Pass) - any shops, restaurants (inside, open & heated)
- High School breezeway @ base of Swan Mountain (cover only) - not inside.
- River Run - breezeways / possible use of small lodge or Pavillion (pending availibility), and at your cars.
1. Ute Pass - All Century and Metric Century Riders ride Ute Pass (summit is turn around)
2. Fremont - All Century riders ride Fremont - (we do not summit this pass, due to safety concerns and distance.)
3. Loveland Pass - Only for Loveland Pass Option. If you do the A-Basin Option, you do not summit Loveland Pass, turn around at the A-Basin Ski Area parking lot.
Aid Stations
Aid Station #1: Ute Pass Summit (at mile 26) - Aid Hours: 8:00-9:30 am
Aid Station #2: Overlook Point at Lake Dillon Reservoir Aid Hours: 9:00 am - Noon
Lunch/Aid Station #3: Upper Parking lot at Reservoir on Fremont Pass - (at mile 62) Aid Hours: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm (If there is adverse weather, there will be an alternative location for lunch.)
Aid Station #4: Frontage Rd. in front of River Run - (at mile 88) Aid Hours: 11:00-3:30
Option 1: Loveland Pass Finish***For Advanced Cyclists ONLY!!***
Total Miles: Approximately 109.48 miles
Elevation Gain: Approximately 8,625 feet
From River Run, you will head LEFT, following the Arapahoe Basin (A-Basin) route and continue passed A-Basin, to the steep switchbacks that will lead you to the top of Loveland Pass, where you will be on the Continental Divide at the summit. Your turnaround point will be at the top of the pass/summit. ROAD HAZARD: This can be a busy road with trucks.
YOU MUST FOLLOW THE SINGLE FILE LAWS. There is a small shoulder up to A-Basin and riders will be spread out by this time.
Blue River Metric Century
Total Miles: Approximately 62.1 miles.
Elevation Gain: Approximately 3350 feet.
The Metric Century route follows the Century route to Aid Station #2, Overlook Point at Lake Dillon Reservior. The Metric Century route then backtracks to the main road (US Route 6) and returns toward River Run. It turns RIGHT on Montezuma Road, immediately turns LEFT on Frontage Road to the STOP sign, and then turns RIGHT on Montezuma Road. The route turn-around point is at the end of the paved section of the road. It then returns to the Finish at River Run Village.
YOU MUST FOLLOW SINGLE FILE LAWS. The residents of Montezuma can challenge the use of this road for future Blue River Century rides. AGAIN, RIDE ONLY to the end of the paved section of the road before returning to River Run Village.
