LOCATION: River Run at Keystone, Summit County, Colorado

MASS START TIME: 7:30 a.m.

SAG SUPPORT: Until 5:30 p.m.

ROUTE OPTIONS

The Blue River Century offers a route for all intermediate and advanced riders. You can choose your route the day of
the ride, at the final aid station. The Blue River Century follows the same route until the last aid station, at which point you can select from three different finish routes which vary in difficulty, so read the route descriptions below to determine the finish that fits your skill level. Main Route Description The first 20 miles will be a mild descent out Hwy 9, through the Blue River Valley, where there is a large shoulder to accommodate the mass start.  Starting at about Mile 20, you’ll climb a solid 5 miles Ute Pass. **ROAD HAZARD – cattle guard 2 miles from the top of Ute Pass (at approximately Mile 23).

Aid Stations

Aid Station #1 – Mile 25 – Ute Pass Summit Continue down a scenic descent of the Gore Range, then gradually climb back Hwy 9 towards Dillon Reservoir, where you’ll cross the Dillon Dam on the bike path adjacent to the Dillon Dam Rd.  (No bikes allowed on Dillon Dam Rd).

Aid Station #2 – Mile 46 – TBD Continue down the charming Main Street of Frisco, then you’ll transition onto a to a wide bike path, where you’ll need to get your granny gears ready for a moderate 14 mile climb up to Vail Pass. En route to Vail Pass, there will be views of the White River National Forest.

Aid Station #3 – Mile 63 - Vail Pass Summit 
Restroom facilities will be available here and a “light aid” station. The official lunch area is just a short and fast descent 8 miles away.

Aid Station #4 – Mile 71 - TBD - LUNCH will be served 

Aid Station #5 – Mile 90 – River Run at Keystone (separate area from start/finish) After enjoying lunch, head back onto the bike path towards Breckenridge, over Swan Mountain Road. This is a 1.7 mile climb to the summit, with a 3 mile descent back to Hwy 9. Once you have reached Hwy 9, you will head back into River Run. This is where you must choose your finish route. FINISH ROUTE OPTIONS

Option 1: Loveland Pass Finish – Miles To Finish: 18.3   ***For Advanced Cyclists ONLY!!***
Total Miles: Approximately 107 
miles, Elevation Gain: Approximately 7,100 feet
A slight change has been made to the route, where 1-1.5 miles might have been added. From River Run, you will head LEFT, following the Arapahoe Basin (A-Basin) route and continue passed A-Basin, to the steep switchbacks that will lead you to the top of Loveland Pass, where you will be on the Continental Divide at the summit. Your turnaround point will be at the top of the pass/summit. 
ROAD HAZARD: This can be a busy road with trucks.

YOU MUST FOLLOW THE SINGLE FILE LAWS.  There is a small shoulder up to A-Basin and riders will be spread out by this time.

Option 2: Arapahoe Basin (A-Basin) Finish – Miles To Finish: 11.3
Total Miles: Approximately 99.62 miles, Elevation Gain: Approximately 5,800 feet. A slight change has been made to the
route, where 1-1.5 miles might have been added. From River Run, head LEFT to the Arapahoe Basin (A-Basin) route. 
ROAD HAZARD: This can be a busy road with trucks.

YOU MUST FOLLOW THE SINGLE FILE LAWS. There is a small shoulder up to A-Basin and riders will be
spread out by this time.
 

Option 3: Montezuma Scenic Finish – Miles To Finish: 10

Total Miles: Approximately 98.82 miles, Elevation Gain: Approximately 5,100 feet. A slight change has been made to the route, where 1-1.5 miles might have been added. This will be the most scenic finish option with minimal traffic. From River Run, head RIGHT towards Montezuma and follow a road with beautiful scenery and a little bit of traffic. 

YOU MUST FOLLOW SINGLE FILE LAWS. The residents of Montezuma can challenge the use of this road, for future Blue River Century rides. The turnaround point will be the trailhead on the left, just before you reach the town of Montezuma.  

ROAD HAZARD: This trailhead/turnaround is on a curve in the road, so watch for oncoming cars. Ride back to the Finish Line in River Run. Return back to River Run for food, drinks and post ride entertainment, before heading back to your hotel or home. Please read the important safety information.
